SSKAIT stands for “Siya, Sila, Kayo, Ako, Ikaw, Tayo”—taking inspiration from the author’s conversations with the people around him and his own experiences. Sskait’s biggest breaks came in the form of the Man vs Ipis and Ulan Story comic strips, the former inspired by an actual experience with a cockroach in a Makati apartment the author lived in before. From there, Sskait’s audience has shot up to half a million followers on Facebook, 33,000 followers on Twitter, and nearly 50,000 on Instagram.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Allan Jeffrey C. Bacar or “AJ” (the artist and creator of SSKAIT) is a graduate of BS Electronics and Engineering in De La Salle University with Honorable Mention. He started his affinity for art and comics at a young age which led him to Ang Pahayagang Plaridel (The Official Filipino Publication of DLSU), where he created comics and became the Senior Section Editor of the Arts and Graphics Department. In 2015, AJ entered a leading telco company in the country and started SSKAIT Comics a year later. His last role was a Project Engineer before he decided to focus on SSKAIT.

AJ’s decision to quit the corporate world and pursue his creative endeavors under Sskait was firm. It was a childhood dream to be a comic artist, and Sskait’s impact on him and the audience he has grown, made it apparent that it was a childhood dream he could turn into reality given a few practical steps.
